Yamamoto et al. (2022) identified colistin antibiotic resistance genes in E. coli strains isolated from healthy human residents in Ecuador. Using DNBSEQ™ sequencing technology, fusion plasmids carrying the mcr resistance gene, pLR-06 and pLR-50, were discovered. Several additional resistance genes were also found in them, highlighting their importance for understanding antibiotic resistance dissemination dynamics. Yamamoto et al.
